A Delhi University alum, Mr. Gokhale has dedicated over three decades to public service until January 2020, notably as India’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Germany, and China (2011-2017). His role as Foreign Secretary (2018-2020) was pivotal. Post-retirement, he teaches at Symbiosis University and serves as a Non-resident Senior Fellow with Carnegie India. An accomplished author with three books, including “Tiananmen Square: The Making of a Protest,” “The Long Game: How the Chinese Negotiate with India,” and “After Tiananmen: The Rise of China,” Gokhale’s insights extend to notable publications like The New York Times and Foreign Policy. Residing in Pune, India, he continues to contribute significantly to international affairs.
