Surgeon Commander (Indian Navy) Retd. Armed Forces Medical College alumnus, Dr. Kulkarni holds a Master’s in General Surgery from the University of Bombay. After serving from 1979 to 1995, he transitioned to surgical practice in Pune, becoming a Consultant Surgeon at KEM Hospital for 15 years. His passion for Indian and Maratha history led to him authoring seven books on 18th century history, including “Solstice at Panipat” (2011), with four of them translated into Marathi. A distinguished speaker at lit fests and institutions like the Asiatic Society of Mumbai and Nehru Centre, he contributes articles to publications like the Times of India and Sakal. He has also been recognized with multiple prestigious awards, including the Shivsmruti Puraskar, Abasaheb Mujumdar Puraskar, and Fellowship of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
