K. Paddayya

An eminent Indian archaeologist, Professor Emeritus and former Director of Deccan College,  Dr. K. Paddayya revolutionized archaeological theory and methodology during his tenure there. Awarded the Padma Shri in 2012, he carries a scholarly legacy with 7 books and numerous articles. His influential works, such as ‘Recent Studies in Indian Archaeology’ and ‘Investigations into the Neolithic Culture of the Shorapur Doab, South India,’ have left an indelible mark on the field. Paddayya’s expertise extends to theoretical archaeology, evident in his notable publications ‘New Archaeology and Aftermath: A View from Outside the Anglo-American World’ and ‘Multiple Approaches to the Study of India’s Early Past: Essays in Theoretical Archaeology’.
