About
Uthara Suvrathan is an archaeologist with a background in history and anthropology. She studied History at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, and completed her MA and MPhil in Ancient Indian History at Jawaharlal Nehru University, followed by a PhD in Anthropological Archaeology from the University of Michigan. Her research combines archaeological and textual evidence to examine polities and urban centres on the margins of empires in South Asia, with interests spanning landscape studies, pre-modern Indian Ocean trade, museum education, public outreach, and digital humanities.
